Dai Fu Loo Billboard!!

ad1
Nah it is not true we would not spend that large amount of money for such a huge advertisement. However spotted a total new billboard on Nelson street which was totally empty so I took a picture of it and photoshopped it to have our logo. Maybe in the future we could have one of major billboard.
ad2
Maybe as a cloting advertisement billboard of the clothing brand Dai Fu Lou or actually us DFL Family and Friends working inside an ad for other companies. The billboad is on the crossing of the Nelson street and Sai Yeung Choi street, it is totally empty so don't miss the chance to take a picture of it and photoshop your own billboard on it. Cause photoshopping over an empty while billboard you can set the blend better then putting it over one that is filled.

Life Action Dai Fu Lou

Here is a first glimpse how life action Dai Fu Lou might look like. Posing with the half made mask the face is actually added with photoshop for the moment we still have to color the mask first and see how or where we would place holes so we could look at where we are going.

Here is actually Jona wearing the mask and standing on top of a raised part next to the stairs on top of the roof, also bit dangerous without seeing thing standing that high on a roof. But in the end worth it to get some interesting cool shots.

And actually it does not look half that bad with the mask on, wonder what the impression will be from people if we start wearing the mask to events and the streets of Hong Kong.

Two New Dai Fu Lou shirts

Now the two most basic Dai Fu Lou versions are made as going back few steps instead of trying to produce way to complicated ones. From now on we are making new Dai Fu Lou shirts from time to time, either a from the Dai Fu Lou Family version which are the Dai Fu Lou's which are not based on friends of ours but actually self designed and just for fun made Dai Fu Lou designs. And also ofcourse Dai Fu Lou based on real people that are friend of our which will be placed onto the Dai Fu Lou's Friends collection.

The Yellow Dai Fu Lou our most basic and also the logo of Dai Fu Lou. He is also going to play the main character in the Dai Fu Lou Live Action Movie.

Dai Fu Lou Blue always looking around from side to side always happen to be looking at someone or something. Always curious in checking something out.

Tomorrow Dai Fu Lou crew is giving a lesson on creativity in Hung Hom, teaching how you can from the bottom to the top and what and how design should be. Also tomorrow the very first Dai Fu Mui wil be presented a female version Dai Fu Lou.

WIP Dai Fu Mask

Eventually we have chosen the squared version of the Dai Fu Lou paper head because the it represented the original more. So from a small cut out template we went to 1:1 scale to fit on our heads. First we printed out the template we made before of the small version however because now it does not fit on an A4 we used the options to print it over multiple pages and paste it back together again.

Before this we actually made a box around one of us to make a basic measurement of one head, and calculated it over on to the template so we would know how big it should be. Placing the loose piece of the template together is not that hard but needs allot of measurings to straighten everything out. After we placed all the pieces of the template together we past the template onto a big curated cardboard box and made sure the pieces stick together properly.
DSC00926
Then we could start cutting out the template from the cardboard and cause we glued the template one the cardboard it would not move while you cut it to make sure your cuts are precise. To hold the parts together you need to cut a fold link a bit and it should fold much easier then just trying to force it by hand.
DSC00928
And here we got the total folded first Dai Fu Lou mask made from cardboard, the only hard bits that were to fold were the rounded sides, cause we forgot which direction to place the template but it was fairly easy to force it into that shape.
DSC00929
Here testing out the Dai Fu Mask one some special movements, also the first box we had made of one of our head is placed inside the Dai Fu Mask so we could actually more the mask in the same was as our head, cause without the box our heads would move freely inside the mask. Next thing to do is to add some colors and faces onto the mask, however we will show that in the second part of WIP Dai Fu Mask.

Paper Dai Fu Head

We are in the process of starting with the design of the mask of Dai Fu Lou for the upcoming movie we will be shooting in Hong Kong, so if you would spot someone walking around in Hong Kong looking like a Dai Fu Lou it might be one of us, or someone that really looks like Dai Fu Lou.
3d paper mask
At the moment we came out with two idears for the real life shape of the head of Dai Fu Lou and one is to have a rounded underwear which looks more like a real underwear. However the sqaured versions has more of the looks of the original designs on the shirts, but is less of a real underwear however the face is more correct to the original design and also looks more proper cause the rounded version is more deformed then the squared.

If you want to get to know the process of how the masked is made follow this blog we will be posting time to time or daily update and showing sketched or even some total off topic but still got to do with Dai Fu Lou stuff or places where you could meet us or where we might be filming. Also if you want to join in the movie contact jona@daifulou.com for more information.

Premier of Dai Fu Lou

April 23 the first prints and designs of Dai Fu Lou series has started.

Coolest funniest but also interesting character. Dai Fu Lou meaning in Cantonese Underwear man, is a special character made for showing off what normally is not shown. Everyone wears underwear and they buy ones they think are pretty, however they never show them unless it is to their partner. We want to show what is on the bottom can also be on top. The Dai Fu Lou designs are made by Jona Lam and Alan Leung.

Dai Fu Lou #00, Dai Fu Lou #0 and Dai Fu Lou Simon Yin. Simon Yin from CB Fresh is the very first of the series which are the characters are based on a real person.
Shirts prints
Here above you see the very first print of the designs before they were pressed on the shirts which were worn the very same night at various locations and events.
IMG_0012
Also the very first tag and autograph of Dai Fu Lou has been placed in the Fringe Club exhibition, which was the very first place we showed our new born characters on the very first shirts.
IMG_0050
Our very first shirts were colored purple especially for the Purple party at night that was held at the Mint with the main theme to wear anything purple and also in the mix with Alive Not Dead.
IMG_0112
At the purple party the 3rd shirt was shown and worn by Simon Yin himself, a day earlier we've met Simon at the IShotHongKong network event where we asked him if he would like to have a Dai Fu Lou character and a shirt with it for the purple party and he said Yes!!! Also we will be shooting a Dai Fu Lou movie for IShotHongKong and searching more Dai Fu People to join in.
